Trinity College is located close to Dublin city center. The University was founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592 and was built on the site of the former Priory of All Hallows
which King Henry VIII gave to the Mayor, bailiffs & citizens of Dublin and their descendants for their support during the rebellion of Thomas FitzGerald, 10th Earl of Kildare in July 1534, also known as the " Silken Thomas" rebellion.|
During the 1916 uprising field artillery was positioned in Trinity College by British forces and shelled rebel positions at Bolands Mills & O'Connell Street.
